What woke me up that morning wasn't the bright sun or the fact that it was my 22nd birthday. No, it was the fact that someone was pounding on my door. I moaned and rolled over. "If that's you, Gil, I don't want your 'birthday present'!" I yelled. There was no reply and I moaned again, walking to open the door. No one. I looked downs and my eyes widened. A box of chocolate, a present, a card, some roses and my favorite color balloons sitting just outside. This had to be from one of my friends, because only they knew where I kept the spare key. Carefully, I managed to grab all of the stuff, still expecting Gilbert or Francis to run out and give me the "surprise" they were telling me about. I set the stuff on my kitchen table. I opened the present and my eyes widened. Inside the small bow was a necklace, a silver one with a key pendant. I put it on and smiled, feeling my insides going all warm. The flowers were a deep blue rather than the typical red or pink. I put them in a vase with some water then turned to the card.

There was a handwritten note inside the envelope. 'Come down to the park down the street for your next surprise! Love ?' I blushed and beamed. Someone was going to be there waiting for me. I tried to think of who it might be. Francis, looking for a surprise attack? Alfred, giving me a burger or something? Feliciano giving me a pasta recipe? The possibilities were endless. I ran upstairs and got ready, making sure that I looked stunning. I walked to the park, a skip in my step and a smile on my face. I arrived, looking around for a familiar face and finding none. Was this all some sick joke? Did someone just want to see how gullible I was? But something caught my eye, at the entrance to the nature trail where you could go through the forest. A blue rose, lying there. I ran to it, grinning. There was a note attached to it, in the same handwriting. 'Getting closer. Keep going!'

I walked down the trail, keeping my eyes open for more blue roses. The trail was very quiet today, thankfully. All I could hear were the birds chirping and the slight breeze moving the leaves. It was so calming and...romantic. Then I saw it: another rose and note, taped to a tree. 'So close. Why don't you turn left down this trail and claim your prize?' I ran down the trail, not knowing where it led. I had never been this excited in my life, as far as I could remember. I got to the end and looked around. It was a small clearing, bright green grass and patches of wild flowers growing here and there. "So pretty" I whispered. "Just like you, love" said a familiar voice. I whipped around and beamed. There was Arthur, my best friend and crush. He was wearing a button down blue shirt, the exact color of the flowers, and some black jeans. I smiled and walked over to him. "You did all of this for my birthday?" asked and he nodded. Without another word, I walked over to him and pressed my lips onto his, feeling a warm sensation go through my whole body. I pulled away, smiling. "Happy birthday ______. I prepared us a picnic, all of your favorites" he said softly. I smiled, but internally panicked a bit. Arthur's cooking? He seemed to read my face well because he smiled. "Don't worry, the frog cooked it for us". "Ohh" I said, blushing a bit. He took out a blanket and we both sat on it and began eating and talking. We stayed there all afternoon, wasting away the hours.

That night, he walked me home, our hands connecting us. I smiled up at him. "Arthur, this has been the best birthday ever. I mean, a picnic, roses, chocolate, balloons, you as a boyfriend and this amazing necklace. This is amazing!" I exclaimed, beaming at him. "Oh! The necklace!" he cried and pulled out a chain he was wearing around his neck. It had a pendant on it and when I took a closer look, I saw what it was: a lock, matching my key. The lock had a heart engraved in it with my name on it. Tears sprung to my eyes and they met his green ones. "You like it, dear?" he asked me softly. I gave him my reply by kissing him again, only this time with more passion. He smiled into the kiss and picked my up bridal style. "Come love, time for bed I think".
Another request, this one for ~GingerAlchemist Hope you enjoyed it! I tried to make it as romantic and cheesy as possible!
